Girl 10 Gives Birth
Fatu, aged 10, Tuesday gave birth to a baby girl at the home of a local birth attendant.
It is confirmed to this press that both the mother and child are doing fine.
The mother used to be a class 6 pupil of Akibo-Beth Municipal Primary School on Tower Hill, Freetown.
Revelations say Fatu abandoned school shortly after detecting months of pregnancy.
It is revealed though that the 10 year old mother later disappeared from home and was roaming the streets in central Freetown as a homeless person.
Her disappearance from home, we are told, came owing to fear that the mother was in no way to disregard such ugly occurrence at all.
It was however disclosed that Fatu had no means of raising money for an abortion.
“My daughter went stray owing to poverty and was said to have been sleeping on steps of a popular health clinic situate lying at Bathurst Street Freetown,” the mother Ya. Amie said.
“I lost my husband in 2007, and since then I have had no means taking care of my just and only daughter Fatu.”
The mother furthered: “though happy that her daughter was able to deliver the bouncing baby safely, it is seemingly a curse to the name of the family.”
Facts gathered say Fatu will be 11 in October this year.
Malnourished Fatu, who looked shabby and drowsy, explained she was impregnated by 23 year old Musa Farmer, a vagrant that roams Fisher Street and surroundings.
Adds: “Musa could not even afford sending me to clinic for regular checks during pregnancy; I have been forced to parade the streets of Freetown to fend for my living.”
Fatu is gradually recovering from the ordeals of child birth and she now stays at her mother’s home at Dworzark Farm.
The family of Fatu however appeal for support from well meaningful Sierra Leoneans.
