Hadji to face club punishment

Mustapha Hadji Bangura who last Saturday learnt during the first 45 minutes against Olympic that his wife in the United States delivered a healthy baby boy looks set to face club punishment for a breach of arrangement.  (Bangura celebrating last weekend)

Bangura has missed much of Apollo training for the upcoming derby against the AEL, and his club is furious. It could be recalled Bangura registered a hat-trick in the first Limassol derby and to say the least is a very important player for Apollo.

The attacking midfielder was granted permission to see his son and wife in the US for few days and return on Thursday and according to reports he is still not yet back in Cyprus and Sierra Express Media sources believe he will return on Tuesday after his club vital derby encounter this weekend.

If he fails to return and misses the Limassol derby it is likely that  the Sierra Leonean attacking midfielder will face a fine, a statement from the club said. Azas the club’s spokesperson reiterated that the player has requested leave until Tuesday because he is still in the US with his new son, which his club Apollo refused to accept, initially the player was supposed to have returned back on Thursday.

“We have obligations. There is an indication that he will receive a fine,” said Mr Azas.

Azas continued, “we’re pretty upset about it because the player asked for permission to go to America to see his newborn baby boy.  However, there are many players in the team and Apollo will go on to win the derby.”

Certainly, Bangura’s absence will have a great effect on head Coach Andrea’s plans for the derby.
