airtel Honored to be the Best Communications Company of the Year 2010
Airtel, a leader in mobile voice & data services provision in Sierra Leone, is pleased to be honoured as the Communications Company of the Year 2010. This was announced at the All Works of Life (AWOL) annual achievement awards ceremony that took place on the 26th December 2010 in Freetown. The awards aimed at highlighting the growth and potential of the business landscape across the country, while rewarding excellence and best practices across the country.
This prestigious event was highly attended by representatives from the government, business, and media leaders from across Sierra Leone. The evening represented an ideal and unique opportunity to give visibility to a world-class African & Sierra Leonean brand, airtel.
Achievement Award
Collecting the award for airtel, RVS Bhullar, Managing Director of airtel Sierra Leone commented:”This award is an achievement that represents our belief in the African continent and the potential that exists. Whilst the past 12 months have been difficult for most sectors of the economy, the winner of this award showed creativity, resourcefulness and solid communications know-how, improving corporate reputations, brands and overall acceptance of the power of Sierra Leoneans.
The Achievement & Excellence Awards took place on December 26th, 2010 at the Family Kingdom Resort in Freetown, and celebrated the best of the best in all works of life and of the mobile telephony ecosystem. Judged by industry luminaries, this influential awards show celebrated airtel as the best in categories including Mobile Business, Mobile Technology, Mobile Entertainment & Mobile Marketing.
“The growth of Annual Achievement Awards and more especially the Mobile Excellence Awards has been tremendous over the past years and the company is proud to be a strong Mobile Innovator in the country,” said Airtel’s Head of Corporate Affairs & Communications, Kelvin Kellie. ”airtel’s mobile innovation has grown into one of the leading technological advancements in communication, entertainment and media over the year and the company is proud to be at the forefront of the industry with such an innovative and prestigious event that truly honors the best of breed”, he further emphasized.
The company over the years has embarked on massive Corporate Social Responsibility in the country. At the present, the company has adopted the RC Primary School at Tombo. Airtel and the Education Ministry have signed a memorandum of understanding in order for the company to refurbish the whole school campus and supply furniture, school materials and many more. The company is set to officially launch such a project at any time from now. AWOL deserve some commendations as airtel indeed the best mobile telecommunications company of the year 2010.
