“Adultery- Not Me” Mayor Debunks
City father, His Lordship Mayor Herbert Williams (in photo), yesterday demystifies media ascriptions that he is overindulging into ‘adulterous’ activities, as ‘slanderous’ and ‘derogatory.’
“Adultery is not part of me at all. I am highly religious and will not allow foolish things to carry me away,” Mayor Williams boastfully said.
In an interview Mayor Williams disclosed to our reporter that he is a responsible city father and has been in matrimony for 20 good years.
“I have had two kids with my wife. I will never get a child out of wedlock,” he said.
“Allegations that I have been having extra marital activities with an employee of the City Council makes no sense and appears to be baseless.”
He further told our reporter that he is an upright, firm and effective Mayor of Freetown. And that he has never at any time gone against the doctrines and moralities of his job.
“Accusing me of not wearing my mayoral chain and also not in my full regalia while at the launching of the 50th anniversary celebration, seemed outrageous and negates good journalism in our society,” Mayor Williams said.
He however recounted on instances that warrants him put on his official mayoral attires and those that are not.
That he was at the launching of the 50th anniversary celebration, but was not in his official attires because the ceremony itself was unofficial.
“In fact, I was invited to witness the ceremony and was issued with a t-shirt, which indicates that I was bound to put it on during the rite, which I did,” he said.
Mayor Williams tagged his office (the office of the Mayor of Freetown) as sacrosanct and sacred.
He however called on all to desist from the practice of bad journalism, noting that such demeans the credibility of the media in society.
