In a bid to identify cricketers for the upcoming North-West African female tournament, four female clubs have been selected to play cricket tournaments commencing 20th November.

The tournament, it is revealed, is geared towards identifying and selecting female cricketers for the up coming tournament to be held in Bamako/Mali early next year.

Sierra Leone will be joining other African countries for the competition in Bamako/Mali.

Teams selected to play the round robin tournament included, Stadium Stars, Grace Jenner Wright, Shoubu Leopold and the Prison Female Team.

It is expected that the President of Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Mr. Beresford Bournes Coker, will deliver statement during the opening ceremony scheduled for Saturday 20th.

The Public Relation Officer for the Sierra Leone national cricket team, Bockarie Alie, has confirmed to this press that the cricket competition will help them identify players for the tournament in Bamako/Mali.

He further disclosed how the selected teams shall have to play at the Kingtom Oval field where the winner will be crowned as champion.

The winner and runner up, we are told, shall receive reasonable prices.

PRO Alie called on all to partake in the game of cricket.

He said, as an association, it encourages interested and talented individuals to come on board play cricket.

“In the future, the association will cater for scholarships for players undertaking educational activities,” the PRO said.
