“We want to give the boys a better opportunity to step up for the future Bafana challenge. Players that have been selected are very very excited to come to Sierra Leone and face the challenges of playing in Sierra Leone,” said the Kabo John Zomba. He also noted that although some of the Amajita boys have already travelled through Africa before, they still see this as a great opportunity in getting more experiences in international football. “We are in the tournament based on the invitation that was extended to us may be the organisers who felt we are very important and can play a very important role in boosting their competitions. We are going to use the players we used in the previous qualifiers and we hope to build this team further by taking part in such international tournaments.”
The coach has who been in charge of the South African Under-20 side for about six months lauded the efforts of FC Johansen in organising what he referred to as a high level international football competition in Africa, saying without such tournaments it would have been difficult for teams in Africa to expose their young football stars. “We appreciate what has been done by the organisers and I think it will benefit teams that will participate,” he concluded.
