The crisis is deeper than imagined in AIK. It was reported that in a meeting held Monday 15 Nov 2010, members flagged it for insolvency.
If money does not come in soon, the club may go under bankruptcy.
“There is always a risk of bankruptcy,” chairman Mats Gustavsson disclosed. In the said meeting the chairman for the Stockholm club called the principal owner of the club to the members’ meeting on the occasion of the extraordinary board meeting today.
But it was quickly revealed that AIK will call an extraordinary general meeting to elect a new board. The decision came after pressure from fans, who are furious at the club’s finances and the situation is worse than they imagined. Termed as being in a “Condensed financial position,” the club may be weeks or months, from bankruptcy.
“We are in a tight financial situation, but we will solve this, “said Chairman of the Board Mats Gustavsson, who does not want to comment on the fact that he will not lead AIK much longer.
I can refer to a letter we received from AIK , where they want to call a special general meeting.”
AIK’s last quarterly report showed that the club goes back 5.7 million, but when it denied that a bankruptcy was weighing on the club.
“There is always a risk, you can never get any forecasts with 100 percent surety, “says Gustavsson.
On Wednesday, the club will hold a general meeting. There it was thought that the current board would get the green light for the execution of new issues and plays share sale. The responsibility will be handed over to the incoming board, which is as yet unknown.
