The first pilot project on Street Girls kicked off on Saturday 16th October at the Northern Headquarter Town of Makeni…  According to the background of the project, the project is meant to correct mistakes made during the implementation of the DDR project.

Research has proved that girls that suffered from the decade war but benefited not in the DDR because of no ammunition were neglected by both past and present Governments depriving them from all human upkeep.   A survey also conducted revealed that block of those girls that benefit not from the DDR project majority constitute the female sex workers across the country.

Survey further disclosed that these girls also formed a block of a one parent family in the country that cannot afford to send their children to school. Help a Needy Child International (HANCI) saw the need to not only support street girls by sending them to schools but help these various schools that admitted these children with teaching and learning materials as it has come to the realization of HANCI that these schools are handicapped in certain areas which they found it obligatory to assist as children are the reason for the existence of HANCI.

At a colorful ceremony at the Makeni City Council hall eight schools benefited from assaulted school and teaching material ranging from benches, books, black board etc.

According to the National Operations Director Ramatu  Kargbo, who stated that the said donation cost Le forty million and that HANCI as a organization will continue to support education for the betterment of all. The schools are as follows Fawa Secondary school, Comprehensive Academy, Birch Memorial and Alhad Islamic and the United Methodist Church and comfort support care, Pentecostal and Alharekar primary schools.
