Police sergeant accused of raping child escapes prison
Exposed: a police sergeant who was held in the cells of Mile 91 Police Station is said to have escaped from detention and has crossed borders of Sierra Leone.
It could be recalled that Sergeant 5310 Augustine Aiah, weeks past, was accused of having unlawful sex with a 12 year-old girl.
According to a report from residents of Mile 91, Sergeant Augustine who works at Mile 91 Police Station seduced the under-age girl with money and was successful in having a sexual association with her.
The matter which was under investigation at the said Police station which brought to book Sergeant Augustine who was in their custody up until the time of his escape.
Residents of Mile 91 Town are said to be irritated with the police and have accused them as having a hand to the unwarranted escape of their colleague.
Sources say Sgt. Augustine has crossed over to neighboring Guinea where he now finds solace.
Although residents of Mile 91 have accused the police of plotting the escape of Sgt. Augustine, sources say the police have had it hectic and are on the search for their Sgt. Augustine.
Family members of the 12 year old girl are said to be extremely angry and want the law to take a firm stance.
It must be noted that on 30th September 2010, the police at 91 received complaints from family members that their 12 year old was raped by Sgt. Augustine.
That girl suffered profuse bleeding.
The investigation, we are told, is under the direct supervision of ASP A.D Sesay, the officer commanding 91 Police Station.
Although a source from the police headquarters is yet to confirm the escape of Sgt. Augustine, information coming from residents of 91 Town say that the culprit’s whereabouts are unknown and he cannot be traced.
