Vice Chancellor blasts Education Ministry

“Shame on the Education Ministry,” were the words of Njala University Vice Chancellor as he revealed his heartfelt surprise over the Education Ministry’s willful calling of ‘Njala University’ as ‘Njala University College.’

The Vice Chancellor, Njala University, Abu Sesay, while addressing members of the guild of newspaper editors, expressed dismay over the uncalled for and treacherous conduct of officials of the Ministry of Education,  referring to his educational institution as ‘Njala University College’ instead of ‘Njala University’ as noted in official and legal records of Sierra Leone, he disclosed shortly after senior newspaper editors bumped into Njala University campus to pay a courtesy visit to management staff and students of the institution.

To him, name tagging the University with an addendum sounds inimical to state progress and has the tendency of derailing government’s efforts in the improvement of education in Sierra Leone.

The Vice Chancellor however told the visiting editors that Njala University is working towards President Koroma’s call for change and has set aside Le 5 million for the conduct of a research in the enhancement of agricultural productivity.

He noted however that since the existence of Njala University in 1930, there was always accommodation constraints and which, up until now, continues.

Njala University Bo campus also witnessed senior journalists and members of the University interact on issues of developmental concerns.
