After granting an inspirational interview to the Voice Of America (VOA), founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Leone’s foremost entertainment website www.salonejamboree.com has concluded a 55 minutes walking tour of Inside CNN Atlanta, global headquarters, witnessing live broadcast on Thursday October 7th . First broadcast on June 1, 1980 the Cable News Network (CNN) was seen in 1.7 million households at that time. Today, CNN is available in more than 89 million households and 890,000 hotel rooms throughout the United States and Canada.
CNN is the world first global 24hrs news network, offering comprehensive news coverage from the CNN News Group’s 37 worldwide bureaus. Programmed specifically for a worldwide audience, CNN International transmits 5 separate feeds that broadcast to Latin America, Europe/Middle East /Africa, Asia Pacific, South Asia and North America via a network of 38 satellites from which CNN lease transponder. The tour started with a ride at the world tallest free standing escalator which ascends 8 stories to the Turner Exhibit Area. The expedition took us to the Control Room Theater, the heart of CNN and the last point of contact before the news is broadcast to homes, CNN Studio 7E where the group witnessed how CNN weather anchor forecast the weather, CNN Newsroom Overlook, Headline News (Overlook), Atrium and CNN News Studio.
“The tour left me inspired as a journalist. I’ve got first hand information on how the technology works the resources and the facilities itself. I’ve always watched CNN back home but I’ve never know that this is what they (CNN) had to go through to deliver the news to us” Murtala Mohamed Kamara said at the end of his tour.
