OGI to engage MPs and Councilors in Moyamba

01/10/10 Freetown: The Open Government Initiative (OGI) will be holding a parliamentary and local council town hall meeting with the Moyamba District Members of Parliament and the Local Council at the MODCAR Resource Centre to elicit community participation in and find solutions to the problems affecting the people in their various communities in the district.

With the level of awareness already being raised on  issues, to enable participants engage their MPs and Councilors, at the forum will provide an opportunity for citizenry participation in governance by asking MPs and Councilors questions regarding their contributions towards development in the district.

This will also improve on transparency and accountability in governance as the MPs and Councilors will be placed in a position to give account of what they have been doing in their various constituencies at both parliamentary and local council levels.

Like recent secessions held at State House and in New York, the Moyamba town hall meeting will be fostering mutual understanding amongst MPs, their people and the Councilors as well as promote information free flow.

In view of this, Moyamba MPs, Councilors, Paramount Chiefs and descendants of the district including the public are requested to attend the meeting.
