In the Same Group G Sierra Leone hosted the 2010 World Cup host in Freetown but failed to capitalise on what they started in Cairo. They were held by Bafana 0-0 in Freetown the same day.

The win leaves Niger second in the table with three points, while South Africa still top the group with four points.

The defeat left the African Champions bottom of the group with only a point and from two matches, now a crunch clash is set in their next encounter in South Africa.

The Menas grabbed all three points France-based striker Ouwa Moussa Maazou accounted for the only goal in the 46th minute after taking advantage of a defensive slip-up.

Maazou profited from makeshift left-back Mohamed Abdul-Shafi’s blunder to hand Niger the historic win.

The Pharaohs, who are ranked ninth in the world, failed to threaten Niger, who are ranked 154 in the world by Fifa.

The Pharaohs will travel to Johannesburg to face South Africa in their next game in March 25-27 2011 while Niger hosts Sierra Leone the same weekend.

Leone Stars Line-up! Christian Caulker, Ibrahim Kargbo, David Simbo, Umaru Bangura, Sheriff Suma, Samuel Barlay, Rodney Strasser, Mustapha Hadji Bangura, Gabriella Woobay, Alfred Sankoh, Mohamed Bangura.
