Sierra Leoneans in Nigeria Offer Thanksgiving Prayers for President Ernest Bai Koroma

Sierra Leonean residents in the Federal Republic of Nigeria have offered thanksgiving prayers for Sierra Leone’s President Ernest Bai Koroma (in photo) in Abuja, Nigeria, during his attendance to Nigeria’s 50th Jubilee Anniversary celebrations.

The Prayers which started on Saturday 2nd in respect of President Ernest Bai Koroma’s birthday, by Her Excellency the First Lady Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma at the Chancery of the Sierra Leone High Commission, was extended to St John the Baptist Catholic Church at Mpape Abuja, on Sunday October 5th, and Friday October 10th respectively at the NASFAT Muslim Mosque in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria by different religious category of Sierra Leoneans.

Describing October 2nd, as “blessed”, Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Hon. Odein Ajumogobia said it is the wish of the Almighty God for President Ernest Bai Koroma to not only witness the celebration of Nigeria’s 50th Anniversary, (Golden Jubilee) but also to launch the Sierra Leone-Nigeria Trade Investment Forum and to also celebrate his birthday in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Therefore, the wife of President Ernest Bai, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma was called upon to offer prayers for her husband the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

She “thanked Almighty God for the centuries’ old relationship between Nigeria and Sierra Leone, and between Nigeria’s President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Sierra Leone’s President Ernest Bai Koroma  which He, (God) has made.

She prayed for strength, the Grace of Almighty God to surround President Ernest Bai Koroma as the mountains surround Jerusalem. She also prayed for the anointing of God for her husband, to be complemented with wisdom.

During the 6:00 am – 8:00 am October 3rd mass, at the St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mpape Abuja, Associate Priest, Reverend Father Richard Gbesam read out the intentions of the Sierra Leoneans who booked the mass and thanked God for the life of President Ernest Bai Koroma, before replicating the requests of the First Lady H.E. Sia Nyama Koroma during her prayers of Saturday October 2nd at the Chancery.

After the Juma Prayers of Friday 8th October at NASFAT Islamic Centre, Augustus Aichomu Way, Utako, Abuja, Alhaji Sharafudeen Aliagan led a congregational prayer for President Ernest Bai Koroma and also replicated the request of H.E First Lady Madam Sia Nyama Koroma.

Alhaji Sharafudeen Aliagan also made supplication to Allah for the celebrant’s Good Health, long life, Wisdom to lead Sierra Leone to greater future and read different types of Rabannas.

On Saturday October 2nd, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Henry O. Macauley made a surprised disclosure of President Ernest Bai Koroma’s natal day, which resulted in a very loud shouts of jubilation and wide beams of smiles from a huge gathering of both Sierra Leoneans and Nigerians present/

This was followed by a happy birthday song, sang for President Ernest Bai Koroma followed by the cutting of a birthday cake that bore the photo of President Ernest Bai Koroma in the interior of a map of Sierra Leone, by both President Ernest Bai Koroma and First Lady Madam Sia Nyama Koroma.
