Ambassador Bockari’s pledge to Leone Stars upon a win!

The Sierra Leone Ambassador to the United States, Hon. Bockari Stevens  (in photo) has said if Leone Stars win the maximum points against South Africa he will surprise the whole technical team including the players.

The Ambassador calling on Sierra Express Media to contribute and give his support to the all important crucial game against South Africa on Sunday 10th October, 2010 has pointed out the need for victory.

“There is every need for Leone Stars to grab all three points, this is vital to the development of Sierra Leone football and my Government will always be willing to support the country’s most popular sport. This is the time to test our character on the pitch of play; victory for the people of Sierra Leone will do us all proud,” said the Ambassador.

I will not like to name my pledge just yet, but a win for Leone Stars will bring a lot out of me; by the end of October I will be in town so I will have the opportunity to see the technical team and players – Ambassador Bockari Stevens

“South Africa, the host of the just concluded 2010 World Cup may want to use that experience to their advantage with all their big name players playing in Europe. We can defeat them regardless of big names, names don’t mean anything in 90 minutes of football,” he noted.

“And it will be very important that Coach Christian Cole is given the full responsibility to be in charge of the team as the head coach and make the necessary adjustment without any intimidation from anybody,” said Stevens.

The Ambassador went on further to say, “Though most people think that football is almost dead in our beloved country, Sierra Leone, I believe in our players, they are talented enough to come out with a positive result in this Sunday’s encounter. There is a lot of talent abroad now from Sierra Leone, if everyone involved plays their part, well, we can reach 2012 African Nations Cup co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.”

A win for Leone Stars will not only spark light in our players but will send the country up in the FIFA world ranking, but it will be nice if Leone Stars are clinical enough when they take the game to Bafana come Sunday.

This is a very important match, and I’m calling on all Sierra Leonean at home and abroad to be supportive of this most important game.  Please Sierra Leone, let’s come out in our Chinese numbers to support our boys and make this encounter a victory on our side.

I will like to render to our sport officials and fans, please let’s try to encourage our old talent players that are in the Diaspora so that they can contribute with the little ideas they have in the game and that will make a different, pointed out Ambassador Stevens.

I like football and I enjoy it a lot – and for the love I have for the sport, that’s why I was made chairman of the Sierra Leone Port Authority for four years….

“And to all Leone Star team players out there, I will personally offer each and every one of you out there now for the encounter of this all important match, a beautiful present, if we win this match,” the people’s Ambassador wrapped up!
