Tragedy strikes Bangura in Sweden
Sierra Leone football star, Mohamed Bangura who currently plays for AIK in the Swedish league, has suffered a tragedy and did not play the derby against Djurgarden Sunday 3rd October when his side went down 2-1 away from home.
AIK played the derby against Djurgarden in black armbands. In a press release it was reported that AIK’s Mohamed Bangura and his wife in the morning went to the hospital as his wife was to give birth to their first child. Sadly, his wife encountered complications during the birth and unfortunately the child’s life was unable to be saved.
AIK football team’s thoughts are with Mohamed Bangura and his wife, and they asked that everyone respect the couple’s desire for peace and quiet in this very sad moment.
This is tragic and Sierra Leoneans will grieve with Bangura.
Bangura is amongst the players called up by veteran coach Christian Cole to face South Africa and according to reports close to the Leon Stars coach, he is unhappy, most expecially as Bangura is one his vital players for this all important encounter.
Childhood friend Ibrahim Teteh Bangura and strike partner in their days with FC Kallon, is also grieving his close friend’s tragic loss. However, Teteh will leave Sweden today for Freetown to join the rest of his teammates for the South African encounter next Sunday.
