Pipe borne water for Yoni Bana
As the saying goes water is life, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources have had over two subversive water pump and other materials for the speedy provision of clean and pure drinking pipe borne water for the people of Yoni Bana and its immediate surroundings.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the Yoni Bana Pipe Borne Water Project, the technical engineer Henry Bangura described the venture as timely and laudable, especially when the rains will soon end. Mr. Henry Bangura said the people of Yoni Bana are constrained with water during the dry season as their water sources are mostly bored holes, are not hygienic, safe, or pure for drinking but with the water project in the town he stated the people will not suffer again from any diseases related to water.
The engineer stated that the work is presently in progress as his men are actively engaged in other work, but informed that whenever the materials are complete his team is always ready to do the job as other technicians are currently working on repairing the old pipes and effetely changing those.
The arrival of these materials left a lot of youths with hope of being employed for the work. The engineer said his senior authorities had not authorised the mandate of employing anyone for either manual labour job, or relevant areas of the job. The technician further explained that he will extend employment to the youths when the need arises especially from his bosses.
Commenting on the timeliness of the water project a youth leader of Yoni Bana Abdulai Sankoh, said the project has long been over due stating that some of the materials are wearing out due to the long time the materials have been abandoned.
He therefore called on stakeholders and authorities involved to speed up the completion of the pipe borne water project to reduce the budding and strains their people under go during the dry season.
A local teacher in Yoni Bana Brima Koroma said the entire job was supposed to be implemented within six months but it has exceeded to almost one year now. This according to him means the government is painting a new job noting that the engenderers are busy painting some of the rust pipes in a bid to fool the people.
Mr. Brima Koroma stated that, if the project is not given speedy and helping hands, the rains will end and yet his people will be left with nothing but to continue drinking water from their streams noting that immediately after the rains, they will soon start fighting early in the morning to queue at their streams for normal route.
Their stories are very pathetic as Yoni Bana which was described by historians as the heart of the country to go without pipe borne water and if this project is completed before the rains are over, the people of Yoni will be the happiest people in the country in terms of water apart from any other thing.
