HE Osman Foday Yansaneh addresses Sierra Leonean health personnel in Accra 13 September, 2010
H.E Mr. Osman Foday Yansaneh, High Commissioner of the Sierra Leone to Ghana, on Monday 13th September 2010 addressed 25 Sierra Leonean Health Personnel who are participating in a three month training course in “Epidemiology and Health Systems Management for African District Health Managers”
The program which is financed by the African Development Bank (ADB) with support from the UNFPA in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, is aimed at enhancing the capacity of District Health Managers in Health Service Delivery and Management of their various Health Institutions.
Delivering his key note address, the High Commissioner on behalf of the President, the Government and people of Sierra Leone expressed deep gratitude to the ADB, UNFPA, the Government of Ghana and the School of Public Health of the University of Ghana for the invaluable financial and logistic support given to the program. The High Commissioner informed his audience that with the introduction of free medical care by President Koroma for all pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under 5years of age. There is need for well trained Health Personnel to ensure the successful implementation of the free medical program as well as in achieving one of the most important UN Millennium Development Goals. High Commissioner Yansaneh concluded by imploring participants to take full advantage of the benefits the course would afford them so that they will return home to their respective districts to serve the nation and humanity.
The Ceremony was chaired by Prof. Fred Binka, Dean of the School of Public Health.
Other Speakers included Pro. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, Training Coordination in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Sierra Leone.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by Alhaji Alusine Yilla First Secretary at the High Commission.
