Celebrating 36 Months … roads tainted with potholes

As officials of the ruling APC celebrate President Koroma’s 36 months in office, elites have had minds meditating embarrassment of ‘So-So’ and too many potholes on roads in Freetown.

It could be recalled that President Koroma during periods of political campaigns told Sierra Leoneans that he will bring to doorsteps of all, infrastructure, energy, economic growth and agriculture.

Core to promises made was the serendipitous pronouncement President Koroma’s in the transformation of Sierra Leone from that of the ‘poorest in the world’ to a ‘land of paradise’ in 36 months – place of absolute delight.

36 months, as was said verbatim came and has gone three days ago; celebration everywhere, beer, stout, big bottle drinks etc were the order of the day.

The scene went wryly dryly when on President Koroma’s home trip after the day’s celebration of what he calls ‘36 months successes’ saw him bubbled in bumps of potholes on the road that lead to his Presidential Lodge resident.

Hill Cut Road, by structural disposition and location, is dissimilar to almost all the roads in Freetown and makes pivot to easy travel of successive state heads making sanctuary at the country’s only Presidential Lodge at Hill Station.

Apart from uncountable potholes on Hill Cut road, that which is frequently used by President Koroma, streets in Freetown are over powered with dangerous looking potholes.

Lumley, Main Motor Road Wilberforce, Signal Hill, Ascension Town/ Syke Street Junction, Tengbeh Town, Water Street and Congo Town all have naked potholes.

Findings say residents of Hill Cut condemned President Koroma for not making any effort to have the Works Minister, Alimamy Pepeto Koroma, cause repairs on the hundreds of potholes on the road.

It could be recalled that few months ago, the Works Ministry have had persons using miry clays to fill in potholes on bad road in Freetown; a thing they say was a counteractive option.

To the amazement of all, the fillers don’t last for a week.

Although opinion pool gives a ‘promotion on trial’ to President Koroma’s 36 months governance, critical thinkers have called promises of the APC in the construction of 30 roads in Freetown (some four lanes), as baseless and makes no sense.

That it would make sense if monies to be used for such roads and diverted to the repairs of potholes on usable roads in the city.

It could be recalled that in President Koroma’s promise to Sierra Leonean during the state opening of parliament in 2007, infrastructure cut across the construction of roads, was core to his hallucination.

Findings of investigation assembled reveal how the present Works Minister roam streets of Freetown on jolly trips, but have no time crack head for solutions to the uncalled for pothole saga on roads in Freetown.

Works Ministry sources told this press that the current Minister doesn’t have any experience in construction and construction related issues.

A call for the immediate and unconditional reconditioning of a road frequently used by President Koroma – The Hill Cut, has reached desks of Sierra Express Media.

Of course, it sounds surprising in meditative minds of many, especially so, international representatives plying the Hill Cut and other roads in Freetown, to see their vehicles bumped into deep gutter holes lying and congesting right of way of vehicles.

While the APC boasts of President Koroma’s 36 months accomplishment, the public wants them take heed of the pollution of bad roads in the earth of Freetown.
