WASCE result out, 100 withheld
Prior to the release of WASCE results, The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has withheld results of a hundred or more candidates at respective schools countrywide.
It was confirmed that the seizure of results of pupils by WAEC was due to examination malpractices.
According WAEC’s Head of National Office, Mr. Sheriff Sapateh, he said malpractices discovered were due to irregular activities within various examination halls. Some candidates were caught with examination scripts hours before the conduct of examination.
He however disclosed that all caught in irregularities have had their results withheld and will be presented to the Sierra Leone Attitude Test, the committee mandated to invalidate unsatisfactory result(s).
It could be recalled that in the years past, persons taking the WASCE examinations have had the habit of securing questions from unscrupulous WAEC officials by way of paying huge amounts.
Sources say candidates accused of examination fraud and whose results have been withheld have vowed to name names of unwholesome cabal of persons at WAEC.
Although efforts to get comment from officials of Education Ministry proved futile, it was reliably told that government intends to mount up an investigation on the said allegations.
