APC Councilor donates educational material to Constituency 107
The councilor of constituency 107, ward 379, Melrose Jane During, in her quest to bring to the doorstep better education, on Saturday 11th September, donated educational materials to over 200 children of the above constituency.
Addressing beneficiaries at the Ark Community Centre on Robert Street, she said that the offer, though small, shall make and help prepare the foundation of children for good learning.
She stated that she is expecting more other offers for children very soon – “more will reach you,” the councilor said.
Councilor During encourages parents to meticulously take good care of their children as they are the leaders of tomorrow.
“My children, I encourage you to learn and acquire better education. It is the key to success and will make you useful persons of society,” the Councilor stated. Adding, “With you as a coming generation, we hope to observe Sierra Leone high up there.”
The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Hon. Aliue Pat Sowe, in his statement lauded the efforts of Councilor During, and said her work is geared towards complimenting President Koroma’s agenda for change.
“Education is government’s priority and Councilor During’s selfless efforts in the improvement of education, is indeed one of a decision an upright politician can dispense to his/her people,” Minister Pat Sowe said.
The education officer, Freetown City Council, Henry Fyfe, echoed Councilor During’s hard work and dedication to duty.
He called on others to emulate and follow the footsteps of such a Councilor.
Materials donated goes to pupils from classes one to six.
