Call for the banning of HANCI’s operation in Sierra Leone
The writing on the wall is gradually becoming clear about the way and manner the APC government is playing politics with the issue of Help A Needy Child International SL (HANCI) and the illegal adoption scam. The issue if not properly handled has the potential to undo the APC government, making it most unpopular.
According to pubic opinion, HANCI, as a non-governmental organization must be banned from operation until the outcome of the long awaited commission of enquiry is known. The Director for the Foundation of Democratic Initiatives and Development, (FDID) Hindowa Emmanuel Saidu holds the view that long before now investigation on the matter has been tampered with by state actors. Justifying his statement, the director noted that the deliberate attempt by HANCI to take a boy to the Criminal Investigation Department purported to be one the boys they facilitated adoption for which was later proved to be untrue by the CID was just enough for the government to have withdrawn HANCI’s certificate of operation and strong action taken against the organization’s deliberate attempt to mislead the only investigative department in the country.
The director further noted that it is because the government has turned a blind eye on the matter it encouraged HANCI to splash Le90 million on street kids.
FDID is of the view that HANCI is looking for opportunity to remove public attention from the adoption scam while it continues to find pleasure in human trafficking.
On the subject of taking care of street kids, one wonders if there is any reliable data on street children in the country.
As for the Social Welfare minister, Dr. Soocoh Kabia, he has been described as womanish in terms of administration, hence the need for him to be withdrawn from the ministry as indicators have proven him to be unfit for that particular ministry. Investigation carried out by this medium has it that the commission promised to be set up by the government is far from the reality. As a matter of fact, it is the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Serry Kamal who is dragging his feet over the issue.
