Sierra Leone 1 – 1 Egypt
Leone Stars gave an impressive performance in Cairo against the African champion team Egypt in the 2012 AFCON qualifying game.
Early in the game Egypt took control but a determined Leone Stars team held their own with Mustapha Bangura scoring a well-deserved goal in the second half to put Leone Stars in the lead.
After a goal- less first half, and a couple of blunders by Egypt’s star performers, Mohamed Nagy Geddo and Kei Kamara, Leone Starts were on top with a great defense at the net.
In the second half, Egypt struggled to maintain position and then Sierra Leone’s Mustapha Bangura barreled past two defenders before shooting straight past El Hadhary to give Leone Stars the lead.
Leone Stars glory was short lived as four minutes later Egypt’s Ahmed Fathallah headed in an equalizer.
As both teams battled to make a second goal, Bangura had prime position in front of the goal but Egypt’s El Hadhary denied that chance with an effective save.
Both teams fought hard for a winning goal but had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Sierra Leone All Stars put forward a great team performance ensuring them a grandiose welcome at Lungi airport tomorrow!

Bravo Leone Stars you made me feel proud of my country yesterday in Egypt due to the second half performance you put up against Egypt .And a very special gratitude is going out to those patriotic Sierra Leonean fans that were cheering for Leone Stars in Cairo despite of the fact that they were few in the stands of the stadium.
