Oh APC propaganda machine

Oh APC propaganda machine

Oh Boy! When it comes to propaganda the APC has no equal; they have the knack to create propaganda out of any situation especially those which contain some elements fact. They would make claims that even they know are untrue but they put it in such a way as to convince the fickle minded.

It was the main item in the news bulletin of the SLBC on Tuesday evening and again at 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock on Wednesday morning. The ministry of local government and community development had disbursed over three billion Leones which it had received from the ministry of mineral resources for distribution to certain chiefdoms in about five districts. The money is to be used specifically for community development in areas like health, education etc., etc. The money is NOT intended for private people but for the whole chiefdom. That is as far as the factual information goes and then the typical APC propaganda wheels began to churn out untruths. That it was the first time that mining communities were benefitting directly from licensing royalties, meaning that the whole exercise is a novelty that has been introduced by the APC government. This is where I have always criticized this regime. It has the propensity to make claims that it jolly well knows are not true but deliberately sets out to pull wool over the eyes of an unsuspecting public, which sadly is nearly always gullible.

What are the facts surrounding the disbursement of mining royalties to chiefdoms, the intrinsic facts?

In 2001 the SLPP President Ahmad Tejan-Kabbah introduced the system of returning a proportion of diamond licensing fees to chiefdoms where such mining takes place. The quantum of compensation depended on the amount of license fees collected. The disbursement was always done in the open barry and in the presence of everyone. By the time the SLPP left office in 2007, it had disbursed at least TWEVE BILLION Leones. Where then lies the novelty in the current distribution other than to make false credit for what others had initiated? Was there anything wrong in acknowledging that the exercise was a continuation of what the last government had begun?

APC protagonists often accuse us in the opposition of not acknowledging that we are out and they are in; but when have they ever said of a project that “the last government started it?” But we will continue to nail any untrue claims especially if the aim is to discredit us.

The other time it was Julius Maada Bio; yesterday it was Dr. Alpha Wurie. Believe me dear readers when it comes to fabricating stories or telling naked lies, the African Champion newspaper has no equal. It is a pity that even with the newspapers connection with a government minister, it is constantly in the news for telling one lie after another, or one alarming sensation after the other. The noise surrounding its outrageous and unfounded statement that a GSM provider was engaged in money laundering which is a serious crime under our laws has hardly died down and now the lie, the very blatant lie about Dr. Alpha Wurie.

Does Mohamed Daudis Koroma have any influence on the policy of his newspaper, or does the paper commit these blunders in spite of him, or is he part of the problem?

Except when he is out of the country Alpha Wurie has attended most stakeholders meetings and convention of the party. On one particularly tense occasion it was he who poured calming oil on those turbulent waters. How come the African Champion could write that ‘’Alpha Wurie resigned his position as the Trustee for the northern region with no explanation as to what triggered his decision. Since then he never took any active part in the SLPP politics until two days ago when he made clear his intention to contest the SLPP flagbearership.”  The newspaper devoted quite a lot of space last week to disqualifying certain aspirants for the flagship position. Perhaps the party executive should consider inviting him to join the vetting committee. Some people would appear to have no sense of shame as their notoriety gains ascendancy. But again nar Salone dis.
