Kallon to miss 2012 qualifier
Mohamed Kallon striker for Leone Stars is to miss the opening qualifying game for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Due to injury, 30-year old Kallon has taken himself out of the squad for the Leone Stars’ Group G match.
“I’ve decided not play against Egypt because I’m not fully fit to give out my best,” Kallon told BBC Sport.
“I’ve just recovered from a knee injury that kept me out of action for almost two months, I returned to action two weeks ago, so I need more time to regain fitness.
“I always love to play for my country and I’m not happy that I’ll miss this important encounter – I’ll pray for the other players to deliver their best and get a good result in Cairo.”
Kallon has not played for the Leone Stars since 2008, he joined Shaanxi Zhongjian, Chanba in the Chinese Super League in early 2010 and has fitted in very well so far with the team.
Kallon hopes to take part in the qualifier for Equatorial Guinea and Gabon if he can spring back from his injuries!
