Kenema Councilors ‘Baranta’
If the expectations of councilors in the Kenema city council came to pass, the Mayor of Kenema City, Chief Brima Kargbo, will be shown the exit door by a vote of no confidence.
Residents of Kenema are demanding an answer for the bus believed to have been donated to the council by the United States Government.
However, Mayor Kargbo noted that he has nothing to fear as he has done nothing wrong and that the bus deal was genuine.
Investigation conducted by this medium revealed that early this year the American based Kenema District Development Mission (KDDM) invited the Mayor to the United States to brain storm on how they could support development projects in the part of the country.
The Kenema City Council condemned the visit, saying it was never sanctioned by council.
The aggrieved councilors have written a ten-point protest letter which they intent presenting to the Decentralization Secretariat and the minister of local government concerning what they referred to as “the unacceptable attitude” of the mayor regarding certain decisions that border on the district. The letter also urges the removal of mayor Kargbo.
According to the spokesman of the council, Councilor Bah, they were not aware about the coming and disappearance of the said vehicle.
