The President at the reopening ceremony recalled two major achievements by the ministry of Mineral Resources, which are the formulation and enactment of the new Mines and Minerals Act and the review of all licenses. The Chief Executive Officer, London Mining PLC, Graeme Hossie disclosed then that the company had invested over twenty million dollars to transform the mine into a world class venture for the benefit of all and will pump an additional eighty million dollars to kick start the mine’s operation. He noted that when major mining companies were closing down due to the credit crunch, London Mining was in Sierra Leone trying to sign an agreement.

He further stated that Sierra Leone as a nation has natural resources and the man power but no capital to realize the dream of the country in the extractive industry.
