Africell doubles its steps on tariff

Africell, the Number One mobile phone network has made a ten (10) units increase on the initial 25 units per minute international tariff. Now, the tariff charged on every international call is 35 units per minute, whilst the internal 15 units per minute tariff to other mobile networks remain the same.

This disclosure was made in an exclusive press conference at the Africell headquarters, Wilberforce on Monday 2nd August, 2010.

In making the Africell stance on the increase on tariff, the Africell’s Head of Events and Sponsor, Mr. Arthur B. Kallon told journalists that the main motive of doing business is to maximize profit, adding that for every action or alteration in business dynamics there must be a reaction to effect that change.

When questioned on the fluctuation on tariff and that competition among mobile companies was so keen, Mr. Kallon replied that “changes do occur in tariff but Africell management does not play around tariff.”

While making his opening statement earlier last Saturday at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building, Brookfields, Mr. Kallon hastily informed journalists that Africell has received another accolade from the Sierra Leone Music and Television for being the ‘Best GSM Company’ in Sierra Leone. He said though the Press Conference was not to announce the new award, but he thought he should inform their numerous subscribers as this was not the first time the company was receiving an award as Africell has received two big awards before this one for excellent service.

Mr. Kallon further briefed journalists on their normal tariff with effect from 2nd August 2010. He said between 7am and 3 pm the tariff per call is 8 units per minute; 3pm to 12 pm is 10 units per minute; 12 to 2 am is 1 unit per minute; of course the 2am to 5am remains constant.

Miss Nancy L. Joseph, the Head of Marketing, said Africell’s management has temporarily suspended the Africell Sunday Jamboree. She intimated journalists that the cancellation of the Jamboree was in anticipation of the Ramadan (Fasting).

Miss Joseph also encouraged subscribers to stay in touch with Africell as they contemplate other unique promotions in future. She said, previously, they had a total of 252 winners, out of which 21people won the sum of 21 million Leones each.
