National Insurance company presents claims cheque
The Managing Director for the National Insurance Company Mr. A. Yaskey on the 22nd July at the HFC Mortgage and Saving Bank conference hall at 30 Liverpool Street at about 3 p.m. presented a claim cheque worth Le16,716.000 to Mr. Kofi Boatengs managing director HFC Mortgage and Savings and one Alison Sheka Kanu of 73 Sheka Stevens Street Freetown for a house that was insured against storm at 11 Shelton street Wilberforce. In his statement the managing director HFC Mortgage and Saving noted that they do provide for individuals and groups to purchase, build, improve or renovate houses. These loans he noted go with two insurance covers, Hazard and Allied Cover and Mortgage Protection with the former covering accidental damage to one’s property and the latter against loss of income due to permanent incapacitation or death. We are collaborating with the National Insurance Company in this area Kofi stressed.
He noted further that they are here to witness the National Insurance Company pay on its commitment to provide insurance cover for damage to Mr. Alison Kanu’s house. A tree fell on the house and destroyed the roof. Imagine without the protection from NIC, Mr.Kanu would be knocking on the door of his tenants asking for additional rent advance. That will not be the end, at the next rent renewal date, the cost of repairs will be factored into the new rent Kofi noted.
The Managing Director HFC Mortgage and Savings noted that HFC provides its customers with a home with all safe guards with even the dead person their mortgage scheme has something for him to celebrate as long as one continues to service his loan with HFC mortgage and saving, NIC is bound to pay it off through their mortgage protection policy. He called on all customers and other property owners not to grumble and continue to take insurance cover even if there is no mortgage. Mr. Alison Sheka Kanu confessed that he was once with the idea that insurance don’t pay claims but later changed his mind .But if I did not insure my house I would not have this money to repair my house Alison Kanu stated.
