Free Radio gives out Le640, 000 for WC winner
One of the most entertainment-devoted radio stations in Sierra Leone, Free Radio 95.7 FM, has put aside Le640,000 (about US$150) for their World Cup 2010 promotion. Â (Photo:Owner of Free Radio MR B)
The promotion requires listeners to call and select a number, from 1-32, each of which represents a country from the 32 teams currently taking part in the World Cup in South Africa. Callers are not necessarily required to select a team but a number. You are liable to select a number which does not represent the team you are supporting at the World Cup.
32 listeners have qualified after calling to select their numbers. They will now monitor to see how their teams are progressing. If your team is eliminated from the tournament it also means your elimination from the promotion.
This is the first time the World Cup is hosted on African soil since it was introduced in the 1930s, and the football fever has gripped the whole continent.
Owner of Free Radio, Bassem Ayoub aka Mr. B, said he decided to give his listeners an opportunity to keep abreast with the World Cup.“The youths, most of who listen to my frequency, are excited about entertainment and sports. This promotion is one way to get them more excited,†said Mr. B.
