Shop owners warned on Operation WID

An official of the Presidential Task Force of Operation WID set up to rid the capital city Freetown of illegal trading, has warned shop owners to desist from displaying their goods on the pavement in front of their shops

In an exclusive interview with this paper, he stated that any shop owner violating this order will face the full penalty of the law.

A cross section of Freetownians have said that many Serra Leoneans are doubtful whether the operation will succeed as it has taken a year since it was launched and it has not had any effect on the city.

In an interview with the Chief Administrative Officer of the Metropolitan Police, Mr. John Albert Simbo, he stated that all the stakeholders including the Freetown City Council (FCC), the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA), Freetown Waste Management, MASADA, and the Presidential Task Force, are determined to ensure that the exercise is sustained and is successful.
