‘I am impressed with World Vision for the donationof 14 Motorbikes to my District Medical Health Team, this gesture is highly appreciated as it will expedite our outreach programmes within the Bo District, World Vision thank You,’ said Dr. Turay, District Medical Officer, while receiving life cards from Grace Kargbo.

In rural communities, Maternal Child Health Aides (MCH) Aides face difficulties in moving from one place to another in the daily discharge of their duties. Distances covered from one community to another are far and terrains are rough. This kind donation also catered for MCH Aides at the clinic within Tikonko ADP. A total of 8 bicycles  were donated to expedite outreach programmes and other campaigns.

One MCH Aide said, ‘Receiving this bicycle from World Vision gives me so much joy. Working long distances from one community to another was strenuous for us and risky for patients especially when there are emergencies. With this bicycle, I can now conveniently carry out my outreach and other campaigns to various communities in real time.’

Also, in a bid to minimize Maternal and Child Mortality in Sierra Leone, World Vision, through their Area DevelopmentProgrammes has devised a system that promotes institutional delivery. Giving out Baby friendly pack to pregnant women now encourages them to deliver in Clinics and this is going a long way to reducing complications during and after birth, leading to maternal and child mortality.
