Earlier on the, the First Gentleman of the Republic of Sierra Leone, His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma declared the CRC process launched after what political viewers described as being a motivating statement. In his comprehensible statement, His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma said the APC government is highly committed to good governance. He said constitution must stand the test of time, noting that this is the right time for the review of the laws that govern the country. He noted that Section 108 makes provision for constitutional review. He expressed that the country committed itself to fundamentally review the 1991 constitution following recommendations by the Lome Peace Accord and reemphasized in the TRC that there is need for the laws to be reviewed for good governance to thrive on. He mentioned that even the women, youths and the physically challenged are seeking for inclusion in to the system.
Before the official launching of the CRC, its Official Secretary, Augustine Sheku informed Sierra Express that the process would be people oriented as government is there to give the necessary support alongside other donors to the USD$4.1million project which will last for a period of twenty-four months. He responded to concerns from the opposition that the CRC is an APC plan by saying that it will basically serve the interest of the nation at large.
