JAFAI targets women and children

Women, children and persons with disability in Sierra Leone are being targeted by a non-governmental philanthropic organization, JAFAI Health and Support Services which had made tremendous impacts in America in assisting deprived people.

In an interview with this paper, the Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Mrs. Fatima Savage, said her organization was established in America with the objectives of contributing to the development of her native land by rendering assistance to street children, abused women and the physically challenged.

She also stated that they intend to address the issue of slum communities in the Western Area, adding that they want to transform deprived lives in those neglected areas.

She observed that most persons with disabilities are very intelligent and can contribute positively to national development if they are capacitated with the required training.

She explained that they are trying to integrate a good number of persons with disabilities so that they will be in the position to actively participate in society.

Mrs. Savage gave the assurance that they will provide skills training equipment like sewing machines to train the needy and physically challenged persons and women as a way of enhancing income generating activities for the benefit of the country at large.

According to JAFAI’s Programmes Director, Mr. Donald Thompson, there is need for Sierra Leoneans to embrace the organization and give them the necessary support that can enable them to implement their plans for the good of the country.
