Application Fees for U.S. Non-Immigrant Visas to Increase on June 4

May 26 – The U.S. Embassy in Freetown wishes to inform applicants that, effective June 4, 2010, the application fee for U.S. non-immigrant visas will increase. The total new MRV fee for H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas will be $150. For E visas $390, and K visas $350.  All other categories, including B-1/B-2, F, J, will increase to $140.   All prospective applicants who have paid the current fee of $131 Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited will be required to pay a differential, either at the US Embassy Freetown cashier or at Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited on Siaka Stevens Street.

The U.S. Department of State is required by law to recover the cost of processing non-immigrant visas through the collection of the Machine-Readable Visa (MRV) application fee. Due to new security-related costs, new information technology systems, and inflation, the present fees are now lower than the actual cost of processing non-immigrant visas.

The U.S. Embassy in Freetown looks forward to continuing to serve our customers in Sierra Leone.
