3 remanded for cultivating 262.4 Kilograms of Cannabis Sativa

Alfred Turay, Sheriff Vandi, and Alimatu Turay, Wednesday 17th May 2023, appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 because the police alleged that they were discovered cultivating 262.4 kilograms of cannabis sativa.

The accused were being tried on two charges: conspiracy to commit an offense, and cultivation of cannabis sativa, both of which are in violation of Section 7 (a) of the National Drugs Control Act of 2008.

According to the charge sheet, the accused conspired to cultivate cannabis sativa without lawful authority between November 1, 2022, and May 4, 2023, in Kobba Town.

Furthermore, the charge sheet states that on the same day, the accused cultivated 262.4 kilograms of cannabis sativa without lawful authority.

After the charges were read and explained to the accused, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Christina Davis Cole, requested a date when the witnesses would be absent from court.

The accused were remanded in custody until May 26, 2023 for the hearing.
