COPPP indicts APPA
The Consortium of Progressive Political Parties (COPPP) has accused the All Political Parties Association (APPA) as a toothless bulldog that does not represent the membership of opposition parties in the political landscape of the country.
“All thirteen political parties of COPPP used to be members of APPA but decided to leave that Association because over the years, the leadership of APPA has deteriorated into a mouthpiece of Government”, said Dr Denis Bright, Chairman of the National Grand Coalition and founding member of COPPP.
Dr Bright pointed out that APPA had failed in its responsibility to hold the government accountable for its actions or inaction.
“It is no secret that the current Government has a lot of questions to answer with regard to its use of public funds, governance issues and its human rights record”, Dr Bright said, adding that members of COPPP were determined to hold the Government accountable on behalf of the people.
“The Consortium is a group of 13 political parties that have created a platform for opposition parties to defend and safeguard our democracy and speak up with a collective voice on critical national issues that affect the wellbeing, rights and freedoms of our people”, he said.
APPA, now a shadow of its former self, is left with a bare membership that lacks the clout to make any significant presence in the political arena.
