Green–Belts Turns Hub For Processing Illegal Mills in Sierra Leone
The Green-Belts Given To the Villagers for Traditional, Farming and Recreational Activities Is Now Used To Process Illegal Mills
Team of security apparatus have discovered 135 illegal mills hidden within a secret society shrine in Sahn Malen Chiefdom, Pujehun District.
The security apparatus made the discovery as part of an intelligence which led them to the illegal mills and other equipment belonging to the agricultural company.
According to the villagers, only members of the secret shrine will have access to their undisclosed and devious location of illegal happenings which has being in operations for years.
According to the villagers, they alleged that Hon. Sheka Sama instructed them to do the illegal operation thereby stealing millions of dollars of palm fruits within the operational area of the agricultural company in the chiefdom.
In Fakaba, over four illegal mills were discovered by the police and military with stolen materials like wheelbarrows, harvesting chisels, and jelly cans both empty and filled.
The Member of Parliament who is helping the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police along with 14 others is alleged to be the prime suspect in this whole conspiracy which led to the death of two hapless villagers.
The only development Sheka Sama tells the villagers to do in the green belts is to steal the fruits of the company and harvests it with impunity.
The Sierra Leone Police in their weekly press conference assured the public that peace and tranquility has returned to the chiefdom as the presence of security apparatus is visible across the chiefdom.
A.I.G Kalia Sesay guaranteed Sierra Leoneans that the police and the military will do their best for peace and stability to prevail in the chiefdom and the district as whole.
Also, ASP Sesay, of the CID said they have dispatched investigators to the scene and will accordingly brief the media in the coming days.
Several villagers who spoke to this medium breathed a sigh of relief after the arrest of the Member of Parliament who they perceived as opposed to development in his constituency.
