Class 4 Pupil Wins Zcami Spelling Bee Inter Church Competition
Franklyn Laurence Kamara Age 7, a class 4 pupil of the Royal Kindergarten Preparatory School Kossoh Town has on Sunday 9th December 2018 won himself a whopping five million Leones after he defeated 20 other competitors in the maiden edition of the Spelling Bee Inter Church Grand Competition at the Zion City Assembly Ministries International Allen Town in Freetown.
The trophy is name Rev. B. S. Kemoh trophy after the General Overseer of the Zion City Assembly Ministries International who is the sole sponsor of the competition.
In his brief remarks, the champion of the competition who is the youngest amongst all competitors, Franklyn L. Kamara burst into tears of joy as he gave Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for his grace in his life and further thanked Rev. B. S. Kemoh, his father and lovely mother for their caring and support as he vowed to remain obedient and respectful to all.
In his address prior to the commencement of the program, Rev. Brima Samba Kemoh thanked all Church leaders and parents who encouraged their children to be part of the grand breaking event, adding that the competition is in its pilot phase and thereafter they will seat gain and make correction where necessary as he vowed to take the competition at national level in the coming years.
The Administrator, Zcami Spelling Bee Program, Mr. Michael Evans Johnson said Spelling Bee Competition is the global largest and longest running educational promotion program for kids started back in 1925 in the United States of America. He said the initiative came from Pastor Mrs. Millicent Baion and they intend to bring smiles in the faces of children and motivate them to study hard as they strive for excellence.
The second position goes to Prince T. A. Ngevao a JSS 1 pupil was awarded one million Leones and the other competitors took home fifty thousand Leones each.
Amongst the participating Churches were: Zion City Assembly Ministries International, Glorious Heritage International Ministries, Gethsemane Baptist Church, United Methodist Church, New Life Ministries and Christ Temple Ministries.
