Former FTC Principal in Custody over Death of Wife
The former Principal of the Freetown Teachers College (FTC), Dr. Sahr Fillie is being investigated over the death of his estranged wife, Kadiatu Fillie (Nee Jalloh), after the woman was allegedly ran over by her husband’s car , though that cannot be independently confirmed.
Following the incident, Kadiatu age 33, was rushed to the emergency hospital at Goodrich and admitted but died a few days later, on the 1st November ,2018. She was buried at the Circular Road Cemetery after laying out and prayers at the voice of Islam mosque.
This was said to have happened at Furniture Junction ,along the Freetown/Waterloo highway , on the 28th October ,2018 its being alleged that Dr.Fillie was in the car at the time Kadiatu was hit and ran over.
Some sources say he was actually driving the vehicle.
Confirming the detention of Dr. Fillie, the Head of Media at Sierra Leone Police Head Quarter (SLP) , Superintendent Brima Kamara said the former FTC Principal was being detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) whilst the matter is still under investigation but he cannot comment further.
In an exclusive with the President of Legal Access for Women Yearning for Equality Rights and Social Justice (LAWYERS), Ellen Chambers office at 16 Adelaide street, Fatmata Sorie who also serves as solicitor for the late Kadiatu recalled on the 26th October 2018 ,when the deceased visited LAWYERS office at Percival street in Freetown and lodged a report against her husband, claiming of cruel treatment and how Dr. Fillie threatened her, saying she would not live long enough to see her children grow up.
Barrister Fatmata Sorie noted that LAWYERS was established over twenty years ago to provide pro bono legal services to disadvantaged women and girls across Sierra Leone and that Mrs. Fillie’s file is already with them since she made a report with regard to her welfare status which she supposed to attend on the other day.
“It is rather unfortunate that on the 28th October, 2018 we received a called that Dr. Fillie is involved in an accident and she has been taken to the emergency for medical treatment,” Lawyer Sorie divulged.
She said, they immediately left to the hospital to confirm the incident and that to their greatest surprise ,the woman who had complained of her husband subjecting her to verbal abuse and other inhumane treatments was indeed involved in the gruesome car accident.
According to Lawyer Sorie, the Prime Suspect, Dr.Fillie was in the car that was alleged to have hit the deceased.
