Responding to an exclusive interview by this Press, Dr. Wurie described the issue of Junior Doctors as not only a strike action but they wanted to talk to themselves adding that they have issued out a twenty-one (21) days ultimatum to address their concerns.

“We have the time to negotiate and their concerns must be looked at within the 21 days ultimatum”, he told reporters and maintained that he is not only serving the Government of His Excellency, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio but he had also served the education and health sectors for many years.

He demonstrated believe that young doctors have expressed tangible reason in their action and mentioned that the country was exposed to an infectious disease that cost many lives among doctors and the masses.

Dr. Wurie emphasized on the need to motivate young doctors because they are working both day and night to save lives of people. “It is difficult to be able to put a prize to the service young doctors are offering.

However, Doctor Wurie talked about the resource based of the country to take care of young medical practitioners. He frowned on the manner in which people who are sent abroad for post graduate study were not coming back to use their expertise to serve their country.

Dr. Wurie therefore appealed to young striking doctors that they are correct but let their correctness not increase death rate among our people. He spoke about how we are losing our mothers the time they are taken to health facilities. “When we have our women go to school, we will provide them with sex education to prevent them from unwanted pregnancy and we can rapidly reduce maternal death”, he said. He talked about the resources Government has to equip the five hospitals that have been constructed with modern facility and plan to rehabilitate Connaught Hospital to stop taking our people abroad for medication.

He said the main gap is not poverty but maternal mortality rate and emphasized on the way our women and children are dying and assured that the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Government is going to do the right thing to save our people. Dr. Wurie discussed about the three thousand health workers the Ministry of Health will be employed between 2018-2019.

He concluded by pointing out that, they will bring in volunteers in to the system as they go along.
