Bo Government Hospital Turns Market Center

No one, in these modern times will believe what is happening at the Bo Government Hospital. Upon all the central government support and administrative overhaul, the Bo Government Hospital is yet far behind in service delivery.

Starting with the Out Patient/Emergency Department, there is a horrible customer service. A whole lot of misinformation starting from job designation to medical practice seems to have become a norm. Nursing Assistants will introduce themselves as Nurses and Community Health Officers will call themselves Doctors and so on. The hospital claimed to have no bed linen according to one senior nurse.  There is no official prescription form as ordered by the Ministry of Health. At the dispensary, receipts are not issued and that is because the normal tradition of displaying the prices of medicines is not done. For that reason, dispensers sell medicines by their wish. When patients or their relatives ask for receipts, the response is that there are no receipt books.

At an incident, the nurses abandon a patient because the patient’s parent refused to be removed where treatment is administered for the sake of medical malpractice.

The hospital needs a command system that will compel its personnel to be diligent and retrain them for a better customer service. Almost everything is being bought in that hospital. Instruments like gloves are formally paid for so the medical practitioners can use. One will wonder the difference between the Bo Government Hospital and that of other hospitals around the country. The reason for such actions still baffles the entire Bo population.

There is a high need for service delivery investigation at that hospital. Even when medical equipment and medicines are supplied in tens of trucks, the hospital poses to be very difficult for the Bo people. That has not been because the present Central government is not doing its job in dispensing the funds that will run the hospital but staff negligence. The staff at the Bo Government hospital must be admonished on how, what and when to handle people that are patients and their relatives.

The hospital also needs uplift. It has been a long time it’s laboratory has not been upgraded. Cleaning of the hospital is met with serious administrative constraints. There aren’t very good cleaning policies. Patients and their relatives are not given any service that will be of classic approval.

Someone must do something.
