ACC Meets With SSN Beneficiaries In Charlotte And Number Two Communities

The main purpose of the event was to raise awareness on the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) component of the Social Safety Net (SSN) project and to enquire from beneficiaries the challenges they face in accessing the scheme.
Speaking at the event, Head of the Outreach Unit Abubakarr Turay said the scheme is meant to enhance and improve social standards, business dreams, health status and education of children of the beneficiaries. He said the ACC is handling the GRM component of the SSN scheme which is meant to address complaints and reports from beneficiaries and other stakeholders and to ensure that the programme is free of any acts of corruption. Mr. Turay admonished the beneficiaries to report through the Commission’s free toll lines any suspected acts of corruption or concerns for prompt redress. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the cash.
Beneficiaries and community stakeholders expressed thanks and appreciation to the Government and donor partners for the project, which they say has tremendously improved the lives of beneficiaries.
The Deputy Headman at Charlotte Village Akimbola Taylor requested for the expansion of the project to include more people in the community. Noah Bob Thorpe, a Community Identification Committee (CIC) member at the Number Two community also called for the inclusion of more poor people into the scheme.
Tamba Koroma, a beneficiary at Charlotte shared his testimony that, the scheme has positively impacted his life and those of fellow beneficiaries. He said they have never encountered any issue of concern since the start of the scheme. In a similar testimony, Theresa Simbo, a beneficiary at the Number Two community spoke of how the cash transfer has helped them engage in businesses from which they now support their households.
