Poor Drainage Worries Annie Walsh Pupils
Speaking to a cross section of Annie Walsh Memorial Secondary School pupils who were struggling to enter the school compound every blessed day as a result of uncontrollable water which have flooded/gained possession of the entrance told Sierra Express Media that they usually find it extremely difficult to pass through the main gate into their various classes especially in the height of the raining season, between July and August annually as a result of what they perceived as due to poor drainage system.
According to the pupils, they are worried because, they have started seeing great signs of flooding early June this year adding that, in the past flooding occurred between July to September but the pupils affirmed that the manner in which the water has not only flooded Kissy Road from the school compound but also disturbing passersby on a daily basis is a clear manifestation that the eminent flooding will continue disturbing them if stringent measures is not put in place to address the poor drainage system causing the problem.
What is disheartening according to the upset pupils, they were thinking that with the reintroduction of the monthly cleaning would have salvaged their predicament but to their greatest surprise, the poor drainage system continues worsening.
The general public, parents and pupils are therefore appealing to the management of the school to find a better way of diverting flooding which has turned the main gate to a swimming pool.
