At Kanningo, Momoh Konte Calms APC Supporters
The chairman of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), Momoh Konte (in photo), who also doubles as the APC Koinadugu District Chairman, has on Friday 19th January, 2018 paid a reconciliatory visit to residents of Kanningo in Constituency 132 in the Western Area Urban District, in order to reconcile constituents and former aspirants of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) party symbol for Member of Parliament with the bearer of the Symbol, Hon. Amarni in the just concluded award of the party’s symbol.
This visit, according to the hard working chairman, forms part of his commitment to the promise he made to campaign length and breadth for the success of the party in the March 7th election, an occasion that attracted several high profile personalities including Dr. Sheku Sesay, former Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone under late President Momoh and a host of other important dignitaries including all section chiefs and former aspirants
Addressing the audience, Chairman Konte encouraged constituents and former aspirants to embrace the decision of the party and support the bearer of the party’s symbol as he said APC is the only party that have done meaningful things in the lives of the people of Kanningo . He recalled the action of the then government of the now main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), who brought Caterpillars and machines to demolish their houses instead of bringing development in the area. He highlighted the gains made by the APC Government through the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Armani which includes developing the road network in the community once regarded as the most hard –to- reach community and a host of many other developmental projects. He therefore appealed to all constituents to rally behind the bearer of the party’s symbol for a landslide victory come March 7th, 2018.
In another statement, the former Member of Parliament in Port Loko, Hon. Binneh Bangura urged constituents especially the traditional and religious leaders to give Hon. Armani a second chance as he said that his first term should be regarded as a learning process for him but assured them that this term round, he will deliver to the expectations of the people.
In their acceptance address, speaker after speaker including traditional authorities, religious leaders youths and ordinary members of the constituency expressed their initial disappointment for Hon. Armani for the fact that he abandoned his constituents during his last term immediately after they have overwhelmingly voted for him but have however changed their minds to support him in the coming election through the coming of Momoh Konte whom they said they have much respect for. They therefore pledged their overwhelming support for Hon. Armani in and the APC Party in the forthcoming election and promised to that they will pull the highest votes for the party and all its candidates in the Western Area Urban District.
