Ahead of 2018 Elections Police to hold Peace March

The Director of Community Relation Affairs in the Sierra Leone Police attached at the Central Police Division, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Gloria OV Tarawallie has informed peace loving Sierra Leoneans that the Police will be holding a peace march procession along streets in Freetown to mobilize and sensitize the general populace to conduct themselves lawfully before, during and after the March 7th 2018 election.

Madam Gloria issued the statement at a meeting held recently at Miatta Conference Centre, Youyi Building in Freetown to train members of the Local Police Partnership Board (LPPB) to strategize on how they could help Police during the election period to ensure a violent free, fair, transparent and credible election. She sensitized that they will inform citizens during the peace match not to behave contrary to peace.

She said Police and members of the LPPB are going to wear white t-Shirts during the match pass which will take place in February to signify peace and they will be distributing fliers or leaflets with peace messages to everybody and encouraged colleague Police officers to remain neutral and professional in their work.

She further informed the gathering that the village headmen election will be hold at any moment from now adding that Parliament will dissolve on December 7th this year.

The AIG pointed out that they are anticipating the Paramount Chief Member of Parliament (PCMP) election campaign to start in February and she described March 6th 2018 as a cooling period for voters to prepare to go in to pools the next morning.
