Parliament Appreciates The Selection Of Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah
The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Thursday 26th October 2017 showered praises and felicitations on her Deputy Speaker, Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, following his preferment as running mate to Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara for the March 07th Elections in 2018 on the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party’s Ticket.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker of the House, Ambassador SBB Dumbuya, whilst thanking MPs on both sides of the political divide for their apt contributions, said he regarded Parliament as a family, fellowship and a union. He said Hon. Bah came to Parliament in 2007 at the time when he was Deputy Majority Leader of the House and later, Majority Leader before ascending the Speakership. He described Hon. Bah as a magnetic personality who comports himself with dignity that is exceedingly respectful, with loyalty and sincerity of purpose. He also regarded him as someone who takes his work very seriously. He furthered that he personally likes Hon. Bah for his humility because it is the foundation for all the virtues. He also averred that indeed, Hon. Bah had stooped to rise, whilst congratulating him on behalf of the Leadership and staff of Parliament.
Responding to the sentiments expressed by MPs on both sides of the aisle, Hon. Bah regarded himself as part of Parliament for ten years; comparatively, in the Judiciary he would have been invited to serve in the High Courts. He also said that “on March 07th 2018 I will be down the road heading for the superior heart of governance, but my heart will be with Parliament on whose hands the continued development of Sierra Leone restâ€.
MPs on both sides of the political divide heaped enormous praises on Hon. Bah for his choice as running mate to Dr. Kamara, describing him as a servant-leader, caring, young, religious, dynamic and popular MP that has been chosen for the second highest office in the country. They also said that his preferment came from God through the Chairman and Leader of the APC.
Both Paramount Chiefs Kailondo Banya and Sheku Fasuluku Sonsiama wished him well in his political pursuits, saying that he has enormous respect for traditional leaders. Those who respect Chiefs are always elevated, they observed.
Acting Minority Leader, Hon. Ansumana J. Kaikai on behalf of the SLPP congratulated Hon. Bah, describing his potential ascendancy as great and tremendous, but said that the sad moment is that the SLPP is prepared to win the next elections in 2018.
Reacting, Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Leonard Fofanah said that SLPP will win the next elections on the condition that Hon. Bah is the vice president. On representation, he said that MPs had spoken on behalf of the country whilst wishing Hon. Bah success in his vice presidential bid. He also said that “Chernor positively touches every life he comes acrossâ€, saying that his nomination is a blessing to Parliament and the country.
