NATCOM bags 2 awards at TELECOM’s World Exhibition

Sierra Leone, through the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) has been awarded two prestigious  certificates of appreciation  and commitment for  her participation in the just ended  ITU TELECOM WORLD EXHIBITION  2017.  The event which attracted participants from well over 50 countries across the world was held in The Smart City, Busan, South Korea.  (Photo: ITU Secretary General, Houlin Zhao (L) presents an Award of Excellence and Commitment at the Telecoms World Exhibition ’17 in Busan, South Korea, to the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) received by the Director of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, Abdul Kuyateh (R) on behalf of the Commision)

The exhibition, a variety of sessions and high-level meetings of leadership focused on best practice and experiences to promote innovation and ICT for growth and social networking. Participants were drawn from Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe and America and this is the first time Sierra Leone was represented.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony which was graced by the Mayor of The Smart City, South Korea’s ICT Minister and other high profiled personalities, ITU’s Secretary-General rated the host country as, “a pioneer of ICT.”

Other recipients alongside Sierra Leone were: South Korea, China, South Africa, Ghana, Japan, Senegal, USA and Nigeria among others.

Sierra Leone’s delegation at the 3-day event which started from September 25-28 included officials from the Ministry of Information and Communication, NATCOM and the Sierra Leone Cable Company (SALCAB) Ltd.
