Ministry of Works Neglects Youyi Building, Miatta Conference

This medium has discovered that the Ministry of Works Housing and Infrastructure (MWHI) has neglected Youyi Building and other relevant Government structures despite the huge funds they are receiving from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MOFED)

Some civil society activists expressed dissatisfaction over the deplorable condition of the entire Youyi Building and Miatta Conference Center with frequent water shortage and lack of good toilet facilities with poor electricity supply and substandard lift system which is slowing movement of staff and visitors on a daily basis.

According to Non State Actors (NSA’s), the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure supposed to champion issues of transformation and proper maintenances of all Government properties but they are still struggling to meet that direction.

However, members of the civil society commended President Koroma for his transformational strides to elevate the Works Ministry to higher height with the aim to improve citizens’ lives.

The human right defenders further discussed that, the said ministry has not done anything to upgrade old structures because according to them, the level of competency among concerned authorities is minimal.

The public is therefore calling on the Government through the Minister of Works, Alhaji Kemoh Sesay to prioritize the issue of maintaining Youyi Building for the fact that it hosted various Ministries Department and Agencies (MDA’s).
