Johnny Paul Koroma dead and Laid to Rest

Competent sources in Binkolo say former AFRC military junta leader, Maj. Johnny Paul Koroma who had been sick for some time died at night on 10 August 2017 and was buried in his home village of Binkolo on 11 August 2017 after a low key ceremony.

A high-power delegation of unnamed senior officials reportedly travelled from Freetown to Binkolo to grace the funeral on August 11.

Details of the protracted illness that claimed  Paul’s life were not available. Sources say Johnny Paul had been receiving assistance and medical treatment and never lived a miserable life as speculated by members of the public.

Johnny Paul Koroma had an arrest warrant issued against him by the ICC for his role in the country’s political crisis that claimed the lives of tens of thousands of persons in cold blood.

JPK was leader of the AFRC military junta that took the people of Sierra Leone hostage for a period of 9 months from May 1997 – February 1998 when they were flushed out of power by ECOMOG troops led by Brig. Gen. MM Khobe.

The former junta leader went into hiding until he had his home call.

We had actually received the news of his death a day after it occurred but could confirm it only now.
